Zimbabwe to represent Africa

Zimbabwe enjoyed sweet revenge in the Africa Junior Golf challenge this year, beating Kenya by 17 shots at Muthaiga Golf Club to secure a place in the World Junior Golf Teams Championships.

This Wins enables Zimbabwe totravel to Japan in june asAfrica's representative, where they will be joined be SouthAfrica, who are the current world title holders.

Zimbabwe score of 213 and 215 on the last two rounds ensured a major upset, after Kenya reduced the gap between the two countries, after the second round. Egypt was third with 927 and Malawi fourth with 2006.

The best individual gross award was won by Ryan Cairns, Handicap +5 (plus 5) who shot 71, 74, 73, 67, a total of 285, (one over). But Kenya also shared the glory as the youngest team member, 15-year old Wahome Wambugu, handicap 4 was the individual net winner on 281.

Last year, hosts Kenya beat Zimbabwe by two shots for the covetted prize but the young team of Ngugi Njuguna, Lee Njoroge, Wahome Wambugu and Irfan Elias put up a spirited fight this year.
