Upcountry Golf

The second St Andrew’s Senior School golf championships was held at Green Park Golf Club, Naivasha in November last year and attracted a field of 80 players from 15 different schools.

Hillcrest Secondary School maintained their lead for the second year running with a total of 114 points from the best three scores to win by 13 shots.

Premier A came second followed by Premier B. The Hillcrest team was made up of Wahome Wambugu, Dharshan Chandaria, Mark Mbugua and Shiv Shah.

Playing for the first time in the event was the under 13 teams, which was won by Aga Khan Academy on 95 points, narrowly beating Kenton College in second place with 93 points.

Pembroke Prep School was third with 84 points. All the prizes in the individual categories were won by Nairobi based golfers. Premier Academy’s Dev Amratia was the winner with 37 stableford points played off full handicap.

He was followed by Oshwal High’s Rajiv Shah on 36 points. Taher Popat of Sigona was third on countback. The best girl under 16 was Christina Engell Andersen.

Gross winners in the Under 16 were Dharshan Chandaria, Wahome Wambugu and Mishal Patel. Gross winners in the under 13 years were Nelson Mundanyi handicap 14 from Green Park, Testimony School of Eldoret’s Ernest Mutema, handicap 16 and Kenton’s Stefan Engell Andersen.
