Two divisions in Matchplay Championships
This year’s Matchplay championship at Sigona had two divisions. Following the qualifying round, the top 16 played for the R&A Trophy, whilst the balance played for the Windsor Trophy, donated by the Windsor Ladies.

There were no upsets leading into the semi-finals in which Anand Chandarana took on Farsheed Alibhai, and defending Rachit Patel took on Rizwan Charania.

All matches were hotly contested, with the boys showing great maturity and sportsmanship.

Playing at his home club, Anand took advantage of his local knowledge and birdied the 17th hole putting Rachit under pressure on the 18th hole who had to win the hole to force a play-off. However, Anand holed a 15ft putt on the cruical hole to win.

The new champion has courtesy on all courses in Kenya for one year.

The Windsor Trophy was won by Mombasa’s Irfan Elias who beat Chege Kiragu 2/1.

Chege beat Wahome Githumbi 2/1 in the first semi- final, whilst Irfan beat Yasser Shueb 5/3 in the other.

We hope to have a girls matchplay division next year.
